Michelle Hines
Michelle Hines has extensive experience as a Chartered Accountant, Finance Director and Head of Human Resources in the charitable sector.
In these roles, Michelle was a key member of the Senior Leadership Team of the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Salisbury Cathedral. In addition, she has chaired the Association of British Orchestra’s Finance Manager’s Group; the London Symphony Orchestra’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Group; as well as the LSO’s Environmental Action Group.
Before turning to the charitable sector, Michelle started her career as an auditor in the City of London and then worked in finance teams in the commercial sector, including Reebok International and Gucci Timepieces (UK and Switzerland).
Michelle is also a specialist consultant in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and is currently focusing on her passion for community engagement, which is where her heart lies. She continues to enjoy sitting on the London Symphony Orchestra’s Advisory Council and is Consultant to Black Lives in Music, as well as adviser on various interview panels in the classical music sector. Michelle also continues to serve on the Senior Leadership Team of the British Gospel Arts Choir, which she has been a member of and has sang with for a decade.
These areas complement activities through her own company Hines Designs, which focuses on community engagement in the performing arts sector, with the aim of improving social inclusion and wellbeing of Afro-Caribbean people across a wide range of socio-economic groups and ages, by delivering community outings to experience the wonder of the arts, through attendance at live concerts, theatre, exhibitions and other cultural events to inspire, educate and celebrate the arts, with the wider community.
