Jo Towler
Currently Chief Executive of Music in the Round, the leading national promoter of chamber music, Jo Towler has been working in the arts for over 20 years. For six years before moving to Sheffield, she was involved in contemporary dance, most recently as Executive Director of Candoco Dance Company, the UK's leading company of disabled and non-disabled dancers, and prior to that with Protein Dance. The majority of her career has been spent in classical music, working for several years with the London Mozart Players as Marketing & Development Manager and Deputy Managing Director as well as the Philharmonia Orchestra and for Royal Over-Seas League Arts. She studied Music at Edinburgh University and subsequently at the Royal College of Music.
A Fellow of the RSA, Jo is Chair of Classical Sheffield, a member of both the Sheffield Culture Collective and Sheffield Culture Consortium, and also on the advisory board of Sheffield Music Education Hub. When time and work allow, she plays her horn in various ensembles in Yorkshire and around the country.
