Carol Leeming MBE

Carol Leeming MBE is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts and a Member of BLiM: Black Lives in Music.
Carol received an MBE in 2019 as poet, playwright and for her contribution to Leicester arts and culture. She is an acclaimed polymath, an inspirational cultural leader, a successful, multi-award winning, multi-disciplinary artist. Currently, she is working in literature, performing arts and digital media (still & moving). Carol is the Director and lead artist of Dare to Diva, a collaborative culturally diverse arts company, a freelancer: her roles include poet, writer/director, performer, dramaturge, curator, composer, ensemble leader, singer/songwriter, vocal & dialect coach, and arts consultant.
Carol was full time Resident Asst. Director Curve theatre, later for 3 years, part-time Lecturer BA (Honours) Performing Arts, Contemporary Music Theatre Module, at De Montfort University. Carol is currently Visiting Guest Lecturer MA Creative Writing Nottingham Trent University, MA Creative Writing Derby University. Carol is also currently a BBC Open Music Trainee working on the The Dream Prom BBC Prom 60 Sept 1st for 2022. Along with the successful preview of new songs with her band The Random Acts of Senseless Beauty, from her forthcoming Jupiter Butterfly Album.
Carol has completed several Leicester/shire Music Education Hub consultancies, and curated Black Curriculum Learning Resources of: music, visual art and books, for City Classroom Leicester (part of The Cultural Partnership) as she is committed to help develop equality, diversity and inclusion in music education, and education generally in Leicester. Carol is Patron of East Midlands Women Awards, celebrating Women's excellence in all fields.
