The role
Community Impact Coordinator – NorthThis is a full-time post, for a fixed term of 18 months with potential to extend. The post is based in the North of England (Arts Council England region) and is a home working role.
Working closely with the Regional Producer – North, you will play an important part in delivering our strategy for the North. You will be a local advocate and intermediary, using proven models to engage communities in shaping orchestral experiences that relate to their interests and needs. You will help to build long-term programmes that deepen impact in areas where Orchestras Live has existing partnerships, and develop new partnerships in specified areas of the region that have experienced historical under-investment.
You will join a team of 15 employees, based across England.
North Regional Strategy – Objectives
- Consolidate a network of existing and new partners in the North collaborating on audience focused orchestral activity.
- Develop opportunities for young people to experience and be inspired by orchestras, supporting music learning, inclusion and workforce development.
- Ensure place focused partnerships which embed participatory and co-creative experiences to celebrate the places, people and stories of the North.
- Support regional workforce development through training schemes, placements and targeted professional development.
- Continue to consolidate and build on our active presence in the region, attending key network meetings and responding to regional initiatives.
What you will do
The Community Impact Coordinator – North will support the Regional Producer – North in maintaining current partnerships and developing new strands of work in areas of historical underinvestment.
Youwill be a local advocate and intermediary for Orchestras Live, amplifying the impact of our projects, sustaining a presence to cultivate long-term strategic programmes, upskilling and linking individuals, groups and partners.
You will develop a network of local ambassadors for cultural and orchestral engagement, maintaining Orchestras Live’s track record of building trust and using music to bring people and communities together.
Main duties
Under the direction of the Regional Producer – North, targeting your input to address priority need in specific partnerships to be agreed with your Regional Producer, you will:
- Harness and champion enthusiasm and provide support for community groups in co-creation and engagement activities.
- Liaise between artistic and community partners to maximise collaboration and ensure local issues are at the forefront of planning.
- Engage with regional and local networks, effectively connecting with artists and local organisations.
- Identify potential local music workshop leaders, signpost opportunities and accelerate diverse workforce development.
- Provide continuity between projects, e.g. attending community interest and local consultation/planning meetings/events, connecting community groups.
- Facilitate systems for effective evaluation and impact measurement.
Specific responsibilities
Regional strategy
- Work alongside the Regional Producer to develop and deliver the Regional Strategy and implement agreed tasks and targets.
- Work as part of the Producer team to share learning and trends, contributing to delivery and sustainable development of Orchestras Live’s Regional Strategies.
Partnerships
- Observe a range of Orchestras Live’s projects to understand the principles of our producer role and the work of orchestras and other partners.
- Assist with the development of partnership activity to help achieve maximum impact with communities and maximum learning for Orchestras Live.
- Co-ordinate the planning and delivery of specified partnership projects, with a focus on our partnership programmes in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Leeds and Redcar & Cleveland.
- Work with existing Orchestras Live partners e.g. music education hubs and local authorities, to develop new plans for appropriate activity in areas where there is little or no access to orchestral experiences, prioritising Arts Council England’s designated Levelling Up For Culture places.
- Gather local and regional funding leads for investigation by Orchestras Live’s Funding Development team and/or partners, particularly in new partnership locations.
Engagement and consultation
- Consult local people (potential partners, project participants, audiences, general public) to ensure local views and aspirations contribute to the shape and content of projects.
- Convene and manage planning and review meetings with local stakeholders and artistic delivery partners.
- Oversee and deliver evaluation processes with production partners and local stakeholders, exploring a range of evaluation methodologies with our partners to deepen our understanding of our impact.
- Explore opportunities for broadening and deepening engagement in projects through community networks and contacts, within and beyond project delivery.
General responsibilities
- Liaise and collaborate on a regular basis with our Production, Data & Insight Analyst, supplying financial, engagement, audience and other monitoring data as required.
- In consultation with the Regional Producer – North, contribute content for strategic regional communications that support the Orchestras Live national brand.
- Engage with Orchestras Live’s commitment to influence positive change in the orchestral sector.
- Represent and advocate for Orchestras Live to a wide range of stakeholders in the region.
- Play a part in the general development of Orchestras Live as a member of the staff team.
- Any other general administrative tasks as required.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The position is full-time for a fixed term of 18 months with potential to extend for a further year.
- Confirmation of the position is subject to a 3-month probationary period.
- The normal place of work will be your home, in the North region of England. Orchestras Live’s registered office is in Leeds, with an ancillary office in London; the team meets regularly – in person in either office and/or virtually.
- The salary will be £25,000 per annum.
- We will agree with the post-holder attendance at a minimum number of Team meetings either in Leeds or London (expenses paid for home workers).
- The Community Impact Co-ordinator will be required to travel around the region to attend meetings and events in person, many of which don’t have public transport links. Rail, car mileage and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.
- The annual leave will be 25 days plus Bank Holidays/Extra Statutory Days.
- Notice can be served by either party, giving one months’ written notice of intent.
