Tea break episode 12: Empowering vulnerable young people through music
NewsNews Story
In episode twelve of Tea break, our Communications Strategist, Alex Marshall, chats with Marianne Barraclough, from Sinfonia Viva, about our partnership project Destinies.
This Children and Young People Now award-winning project brought together looked after young people, young unaccompanied asylum seekers and professional artists to create a story about their journey.
The discussion explores using music to engage with vulnerable young people, including asylum seekers, how Destinies evolved from a short-term project into something completely different during the pandemic, and the powerful, uplifting moments of connection between the musicians and young people.
