ENERGY culminates with an electrifying performance

"Be brave enough to change the world" sang young students in Bridlington as they performed in the electric finale of our ENERGY project with Sinfonia Viva!
Over the past few months, students, scientists, and musicians have joined forces to explore the story of energy and the impact of climate change through music.
This started back in September, when students from 4 schools across the East Riding of Yorkshire and ERock ensemble, came together for a jam-packed day of engaging activities to co-create new music.
The finale concert at Bridlington Spa was a dynamic showcase of their hard work, where participants and audience members alike were moved by the students’ passion and confidence performing their new music.
Here are some of the original lyrics created by the students and sung at the finale performance:
Be brave enough to change the world,
This is the hour to save the power,
It might be dark, but do not fear –
Turn off the lights, hope is here!

Naughty naughty! Why are you
damaging our beautiful Earth?

The moment that was magical for me was when we were all singing our song and everybody was so surprised. It made me so happy.

Beautiful experience. The creativity was in abundance and the whole thing very moving. Extraordinary performances and an ambitious project for them [young people] to be a part of.

Their confidence levels have certainly increased and to see the whole auditorium singing their song meant the world to them.

Spark creativity in your classroom
Now it's your turn! Schools can access our ENERGY resource pack and streamed orchestral performance of ENERGY. The resource is designed for KS2 students to explore the story of energy, their responses to the climate crisis, and what they can do to make a difference in the world.
The performance and resource pack is available until April 2025.
ENERGY set to ignite more music-making
Following the success in Bridlington, we're looking forward to launching ENERGY with schools in North Nottinghamshire and Cumbria. Musicians from Sinfonia Viva will be delivering further creative workshops inspired by the streamed performance. Allowing students to engage with the history and future of energy.
Our seven streaming partners will use ENERGY to support their music education delivery, offering additional music resources to schools and combining the stream with live workshop activity.
We can’t wait to see how schools from across the country are inspired by the story of ENERGY and young people’s calls to action on the climate crisis.
