Orchestras Live is pleased to welcome Cimeon Ellerton-Kay into his role as Business Innovation Manager
Cimeon is delighted to be joining Orchestras Live. He is passionate about the power of orchestral music and ensuring communities can access creative experiences.
Cimeon studied Composition and Music Technology at Trinity College of Music and then the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After graduating he worked as a freelance musician (composer, conductor and arranger) and set up the London Breakbeat Orchestra (LBO) to engage new audiences with the power of orchestral music by taking the orchestra out of the concert hall and into nightclubs and festivals. LBO recorded Live at Maida Vale for Annie Nightingale on BBC Radio 1 and collaborated with chart-topping DJ-producers Swedish House Mafia.
As a self-confessed nerd (and avid sci-fi reader), Cimeon also has a deep interest in arts administration and the business of culture. After working at Lewisham Council (delivering Cultural Olympiad and other community arts programmes), Cimeon worked for The Audience Agency (TAA) where he was responsible for a first-of-its-kind Tech4Good project called Audience Finder – the world’s first national aggregated database of audience behaviour, demographics and preferences. Starting in England, Cimeon expanded the programme to Scotland, Wales, Canada, Germany and the Nordics.
He has also worked on R&D projects with clients including the Barbican Centre, National Theatre and English National Opera. This interest in innovation led him to undertake a Master's in Business Innovation at Birkbeck, where he wrote a dissertation on digital innovation in the performing arts.
Cimeon is looking forward to bringing his combination of deep knowledge of the practicalities of creative engagement in the sector and experience supporting organisations to achieve financial, creative, and social success.
