Get Connected - 2 March

Get Connected concerts

2 March 2010, Royal & Derngate, Northampton

On Tuesday 2 March 2010, over 3,000 children from primary schools across Northamptonshire will be attending two Get Connected concerts at the Royal & Derngate in Northampton.

These concerts – performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - provide a unique opportunity for children to experience live professional orchestras and orchestral repertoire in an exciting, informal manner. It is a chance for them to see professional musicians at their best, which we hope will raise their aspirations and passion for live music further.

Facilitated by Tim Steiner (presenter) and Patrick Bailey (conductor), the concert will include music by Beethoven, Grieg and Khachaturian as well as lots of other well known favourites. Throughout the concert Tim and Patrick will encourage the audience to cheer, clap along, fill in fun handout sheets, answer questions and speak to the presenter, conductor and musicians.

The Get Connected concerts are part of the year-long Connected to Music project in Northamptonshire. This Music Partnership Project is supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in partnership with Orchestras Live, Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Service, Royal & Derngate, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and sinfonia ViVA.
